Approaches

What approaches are used in Counselling Psychology?

Therapy is provided within a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I work within an integrative approach which draws from a number of approaches based on latest research findings and depending on your individual needs or presenting problem.

Approaches used include:

  • Integrative
  • Psychodynamic
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Humanistic
  • Solution focussed Brief Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Transactional Analysis
  • Mindfulness

The length of therapy is dependent upon the individual. Most people attend for between 6 and 12 sessions, but some therapy may be shorter and some long term.
